Local Lowdown

Cornwall Harvest Festival
October 15, 2:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Come join the harvest festivities at the Cornwall School! Students have been busy making arrangements for the feast. The group has selected various recipes to prepare for the crowds, and all dishes will include local ingredients.

Wine Tasting
October 15, 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.
The Lincoln Peak Vineyards in Lincoln, Vt. hosts a special fundraiser to raise money for the Vermont Diabetic Association. A variety of wines will be served, and the vineyard hopes many will come and support diabetic research.

Yard Sale
October 16, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The First Baptist Church of Bristol will be buzzing with business this weekend. Homemade baked goods will be sold, along with an assortment of other rummage. Winter coats, sweaters and linens will be in the mix. Stop by between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. for bargain hour.

Harvest Dinner
October 16, 5:30 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.
The Cornwall Church is gearing up for its Harvest Dinner. Chicken and biscuit pie, mashed potatoes, squash, coleslaw, relish, pies, bread, local milk and cider will be available to all who attend. There is also an option for take-out. Call (802)462-2170 for more information and to reserve a spot at the dinner. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under the age of 12.

Owl Banding
October 16, 8 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Join the Diversified Occupation students to celebrate the grand opening of their owl banding station, located at 1681 Route 17 between Routes 23 and 22A. All are invited to attend the event, but are encouraged to bundle up and to bring a flashlight.

Pancakes Galore
October 17, 7 a.m. – 11 a.m.
All are invited to the Addison Fire Department’s fundraiser breakfast. Proceeds will help the station buy necessary new equipment. The firemen are preparing pancakes, sausage, bacon, home fries, coffee and an abundance of other breakfast delicacies. Call the department at 802-877-2237 to get all the details, but the meal is $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger, and it will be held at the Addison station.

5K Walk/Run
October 17, 12 p.m.
Ellie Martin, a sixth-grader at Ferrisburgh Central School, was diagnosed with leukemia. Honor her by joining a myriad of other supporters at the Vergennes Union Elementary School. Registration starts at noon, and runners/walkers will depart from the school at 1 p.m. The 5K course is $20 for adults, $10 for student and $40 for families.
