As you might have noticed at the Student Activities Fair in the fall, an exciting new club was developed: the Procrastination Club. Plans for this organization were carefully engineered a few moments before the Activities Fair by Siddartha "Sid" Rao '04. The self-described "procrastinator extraordinaire" felt that his fellow procrastinators needed to unite under a common voice.
"It's certainly not a coincidence that procrastinators consistently receive the lowest grades in every class. We have to get to the bottom of this."
Rao then added, "With this club, we would allow Midd kids to put off until tomorrow what they could have done today. That, itself by itself, says a lot."
When asked about why it was particularly advantageous to procrastinate, Rao replied, "I really dig Zen."
Unfortunately, there was a significant language barrier in getting the club off the ground. Rao never finished the Activities Fair sign. "Yeah, a lot of people asked questions about the 'Procrastination Clu.' Whatever. I'm sure they figured it out."
Still, a significant number of students enlisted their support for the club. Rao promises that he will call them later.
"I first have to figure out what to do at meetings. That will come in time. The real problem is that if we set goals for the club and actually achieve them, then we are not really procrastinating. We might have to end up procrastinating our procrastination. That would involve work. It's a vicious cycle."
Rao claims that though the Procrastination Club has yet to meet, the organization has already accomplished a lot. "Well, first of all, we've been procrastinating. Secondly, I've been planning to monitor the activities of the SGA to make sure they don't introduce any anti-procrastination legislation. The SGA has a lot of power, so that would be problematic."
While skillfully avoiding work, Sid sketched out a broad plan of action for the coming year. Rao will let students know what those are when he finds the free time.
