LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

To the Editor:

The Posse Plus Retreat has affected me so much since I have been back. I feel like that single group of 90 students that I bonded with in two days has totally changed my feelings about being here at Middlebury. I feel like the group is basically Middlebury on a small scale and that if we could all make a difference on each other there, then we could even do the same over here too. I now know that deep down everyone genuinely cares about everyone else; it's just that people act aloof because they feel that they don't know each other well. From the minute a Posse Scholar who I did not know too well invited me, I remember thinking, "Why me?" Now I know that it was a way of showing me that she wanted to get to know me better, and after this weekend, I appreciate her SO much. I wish it could have been a schoolwide event because I have never felt so connected and comfortable with people in the course of two days in my life! Thank you Posse, for making me an even stronger person.

To the Editor:

I want to congratulate The Campus and its news staff on the excellent coverage of languages at Middlebury: the academic year, the summer and study abroad. The range of your coverage, the depth of your stories and the thoughtful commentary and editorial are very much appreciated. While not everyone will agree with every point you make, I think your spread constitutes a valuable contribution to discussion of these important issues. Your timeline (pp. 6-7) is spectacular. I hope you will let me borrow it...
