Walter Van Price, a former employee of Middlebury College, passed away Sunday night at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington due to injuries he sustained in a car accident last December. Van worked in Dining Services as a sous chef from January 1996 to August 2002.
"Van was a wonderful man who cared deeply for his family and friends," said Peter Napolitano, director of dining services.
"He would volunteer his time and talents in the community by helping to organize cooking classes and workshops," Napolitano continued. "He would help our Middlebury students with special dietary needs and concerns. Van worked with the Middlebury Muslim students in setting up Hallal meals in order to observe religious preferences. He worked tirelessly with our students in planning special meals and events."
Van Price is survived by his wife, Rebecca, and their two children, Amber and Ian. He was 44 years old. Memorial services were held for him on Monday.
"Van will be missed by all his friends in dining services," said Napolitano.
He will be missed by the entire College community.
