Lack of snow halts activities
The lack of sub freezing temperatures and significant snowfall has left the winter sports options in a undeniably depleted state. At the Middlebury College Snow Bowl, the entire backside remains closed while Mt. Worth's trail are reserved to experts on Allen Run. Ross Run has been opened a few days on and off while Sheehan Lift has been providing constant service to Lang, Cameron and Kelton Runs. The base depth is currently at 10-30 inches with new snow sitting at 6-8 inches. Also in this mild winter struggle, Rikert Ski Touring Center has been open with decent yet minimal snow.
Broomball has been postponed indefinitely because of lack of snow. Without abundant snowfall, the makeshift rinks cannot be formed. Hopefully, the mild weather will turn for the worse in hopes of improving Middlebury's numerous winter activities. In the upcoming week, scattered snow showers are predicted; however, temperatures could climb as high as 50 degrees this Thursday.
