To the Editor:
I second Jake Kuipers' opinion printed in last week's paper [Notes from the Desk, Sept. 15, 2005].
It is absurd that students living outside the New England area are provided with absolutely no support from Middlebury at the beginning and end of each semester. As a student from California, the expedition to and from Midd averages 12 hours with stopovers and often exceeds that with delays and cancellations.
I can only imagine what international students must go through. I chose to attend Middlebury knowing full well the burden of traveling, but couldn't the SGA or President Liebowitz help to alleviate the aggravation?
A sponsored van to Burlington Airport?
An extra day to settle in? We give you demographics, give us some support.

To the Editor:
I read about the new liquor inspector Michael Davidson in the last issue of The Campus and am writing in response to his new rule that all parties must submit a "party list".
This rule has implications that go far beyond alcohol safety. It demonstrates a very poor conception of the spontaneous nature of social life at college. No one wants to plan his or her weekends, as a host or hostess, or as an invitee, days in advance. I highly doubt that Mr. Davidson ever boarded at a college. If he did, he surely never left his room.
Sincerely,
