The College's Public Safety log for the week of April 5 through April 9 reported two incidents of sexual assault in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 1. Both incidents allegedly took place in Prescott (Delta House), and are undergoing an investigation conducted by the Middlebury Police Department, headed by Patrol Officer Vegar Boe.
Boe said both reports are allegations of sexual assault, or "the more common word of rape."
According to Boe, neither alleged victim had filed charges against the alleged violator at press time.
"In allegations of this nature," Boe said, "the Addison County State Attorney's Office is made aware of the allegations, and we then review the case with them." "They decide which, if any, actions are appropriate for the accused," he continued.
Director of Public Safety Lisa Boudah said she could not provide any additional information on the College's own investigation because if its confidentiality.
President of the College Ronald D. Liebowitz did not respond to specific questions, but said, "The safety and security of students, along with protecting the privacy of those involved, is of crucial importance and the College will take all necessary measures to determine the facts and take appropriate action."
Boe noted that his is an "Ongoing investigation; we hope to have it wrapped up sooner rather than later and in front of the state attorneys for their review."
