Emancipation Impersonation

Author: [no author name found]

Ever fantasized about traveling back in time and enjoying dinner with one of the most eloquent orators in history? Well, your chance has arrived. This coming Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Ilsley Library on Main St. in downtown Middlebury, Jim Rubin, who has been portraying Abraham Lincoln since 1997, will visit to star in "An Evening with Abraham Lincoln," jointly sponsored by Middlebury College.

One of Rubin's more notable appearances was at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 2002 for the 196th observance of Lincoln's birthday. He has also been featured in Time magazine and on "The Today Show." In his performance at the Ilsley Library, he will deliver some of Lincoln's more memorable speeches and will take questions from the audience following his presentation. Rubin says his favorite audience is schoolchildren, although he often has to convince them that he is not, in fact, a ghost of Lincoln. He will perform at several local elementary schools in the Middlebury region during his visit. His performance on Tuesday at Ilsley Library is free and open to the public.
