Ryan breaks record, records POTW

Panther football player Kevin Ryan '07 was named NESCAC Player of the Week for his efforts against Hamilton. The defensive lineman had three of Middlebury's six sacks to go along with eight tackles in the Panthers 10-0 victory.

The three sacks enabled Ryan to set a new NESCAC record of 13.5, with one game remaining. The previous record was 12 sacks which was shared by Colby's Ryan Aldrich and Williams' Bobby Walker.

Ryan looks to add to his sack record as the football team concludes its season on Saturday versus Tufts.

Oliver recognized for game-winner

Women's soccer player Erin Oliver '07 was the third Panther to earn NESCAC Player of the Week honors for her efforts in the NESCAC championships at Amherst. Oliver scored the game winning goal in overtime to carry the Panthers to a 1-0 victory over Amherst in the NESCAC championship game.

Oliver scored towards the end of the first period of sudden-death overtime when she received a cross from Nora Tomlinson-Weintraub '10 and unleashed a low shot into the corner that the goalie could not stop. Oliver has been on a roll recently - she scored six goals in the last eight games. She is second on the team in points, with six goals and four assists.

Toth honored after back-to-back shutouts

Men's soccer goalie Zack Toth '07 has been named NESCAC Player of the Week for his stellar performances in goal during the NESCAC Championship at Williams College. Co-captain Toth's Panther squad defeated Amherst 1-0 on Saturday and then lost in the championship game to Williams on penalty kicks.

Toth did not allow a single goal over the weekend in which he tended goal for 200 minutes. He made nine saves in the victory over Amherst in which the Panthers avenged their earlier 3-1 loss. On Sunday, Toth had six saves against Williams, getting his second shut-out of the weekend. He now has 14 career shutouts as a Panther.
