With three NESCAC and NCAA championships already under her belt, Shannon Sylvester '07 along with her women's hockey team have a strong desire to continue these two streaks. After an opening night loss to Plattsburgh, the Panthers have gotten back to their winning ways and look to be a contender come March.
With a record of 82-10-1 in just over three seasons, the women have put together one of the most impressive and dominant stretches in Middlebury's recent sports history. Sylvester has been an integral part of the sucess - in 91 career games, she has tallied 33 goals and 44 assists for 77 points. Her impact is not limited to the slot and score sheet, though. Sylveter's leadership has translated to a motivated and committed team as well as important wins and championship victories.
This past weekend, Sylvester lit the lamp in the first period against Amherst - her goal turned out to be the game winner in a 1-0, nail-biting victory.
Molly Vitt '09, who assisted Sylvester's goal against Conn. College, knows where her captain and linemate is on the ice at all times, but does she know what it's like living with Sylvester on a day-to-day basis? Abby Kurtz-Phelan '07, Sylvester's off-campus housemateand teammate, has spent four years getting to know Sylvester, but will it be enough to outplay Vitt in the teammate vs. roommate competition?
