Inside the Locker Room Simi Hamilton '09 puts his ski poles down for a Campus poll

With a name like Simi, people take notice.

With cross-country skiing ability and a name like Simi, people really take notice.

With cross-country skiing ability, a name like Simi and a nickname like "Simitron 5000," people really, really take notice.

The Aspen, Colo. native had plenty of snow to practice on over Christmas break and as a result, at the St. Michael's Carnival - the first of 2007 - he was anything but rusty.

When skiing at lower elevation, and not out west, Simi finished sixth in the 10 K free, right behind teammate and fellow-classmate Tim Reynolds '09. Along with Matthew Johnson '08, the two helped the Panthers take third in the men's classic sprint relay the next day.

Simi has a sister, Jenny '07, who is the captain of the women's team. She also had a good weekend. Jenny finished second in the 5 K free event, 4.6 seconds behind Dartmouth's Hannah Dreissigacker.

Inside the Locker Room had to make a slight exception this week because Simi's roommate is also a teammate. A friend was a selected to take on Simi's sister (also a teammate) and the questions.

The pressure is on Jenny. How can a sibling lose in an event like this?

This was the second time siblings have participated in Inside the Locker Room, only this time, it was the older sister and teammate that came out on top.

It is likely that many years ago Jenny Hamilton would put her younger brother to bed with a reading of "Goodnight Moon." Tonight, however, Jenny Hamilton will fall asleep victorious in the Inside the Locker Room competition by doubling-up her opponent Bart DiFiore.

When Simi Hamilton is not listening to the rhythm of waxing his skis, he most likely has the beats of underground hip/hop artists filling his speakers. From Immortal Technique to Sweatshop Union, the relatively unknown groups populate Simi Hamilton's iTunes library.

Much to the disappointment of the ski team, there has been a shortage of early season snow this winter, but the same cannot be said about nicknames for the sophomore skier. His friends and teammates may have a long list of potential nicknames, but there is sure to be one name at the top of many race lists by season's end - Simeon Hamilton.

The Hamiltons and the rest of the ski team will travel south to compete at the UNH Carnival over the weekend.
