This issue is about more than what staff do during their working hours. We wanted to get to know what some Middlebury staff do in their time off, so we spoke with three staff members about their favorite hobbies. Below is a brief glance at what they shared with us.
Interviews conducted by Cassandra Dormeus.
Peter Ross, Atwater Cook
“I love to garden, spend time with my new granddaughter and bring her to women’s hockey games! I love to snowshoe and ski as well.”
In his freetime, Ross can be found most often in his garden or attending women’s hockey games with his granddaughter.
James Roberts, Ross Cook
“Some of my hobbies include: stain glass work, scale mail work and gardening fruits and vegetables. I competed on the show “Chopped,” traveled with musicians and hung out with bands, build computers, play video games, go hiking, kayaking and do yoga. I’m also a private chef on the weekends, sometimes cooking for celebrities. I also enjoy going on the cruise, ShipRocked, a musical cruise.”
During his time off, Roberts enjoys to stretch his limbs with a hike, kayaking or yoga, and was a fierce competitor on “Chopped’s” Halloween special.
Janine McDonald, Circulation Specialist II
“I like to do outdoor things, like cross country skiing or hiking, snow shoeing, reading books and cooking.”
When not in the library, McDonald soaks up Vermont’s beautiful landscape through cross-country skiing, hiking and snowshoeing.
