Seniors begin the 200 day countdown The Grille boasted live music, beer and an auction to celebrate

Author: Leigh Arsenault

Members of this year's senior class filled the Grille to capacity this past Friday night, their pockets chock full of cash.

The 200 Days Party enticed seniors with 200 days until graduation to spend their Friday night enjoying free local beers and a raucous auction.

Students danced to the sounds of Genius Cave, whose lead singer Tim Shepherd '07.5 gave an inspired performance, tickling the ivories with familiar songs and ending with a tireless rendition of "Shout" that allowed students to show off dance moves honed over three years, thanks to the beloved McCullough late-night dance party.

With graduation looming, faces of the class of 2007 reflected excitement for the moment and feelings of how best to spend the last couple hundred days of college.

"The 200 Days Party was a huge success," exclaimed Keith Williams '07, chair of the senior committee and organizer of the event. He estimates that between 300-350 seniors were in attendance, and while the beer ran out quickly, classmates stayed until the early morning hours with hopes of making the winning bid to secure a date with the classmate of their dreams.

The senior date auction, hosted by gregarious seniors John Montesanti and Roula Zoghbi, earned $1150 for the senior class and provided many a humorous memory. Seniors on the auction block, hailing from a wide variety of social groups, bravely faced their admiring fans, revealing their interests (green bean casserole!) in the hopes of finding or reaffirming their perfect match - while raising a respectable sum of money for their class.

"Genius Cave gave the crowd a memorable and extremely energetic show" explained Williams, extending thanks from the senior class to the band. Performed with talented enthusiasm, the music kept students dancing for hours.

While the party was an undeniable hit, it signifies that the class of 2007 is forced to begin the inevitable countdown of their senior year.
