Emily Ballou
Emily Ballou ’21 is an Arts & Culture Editor.

Em is double majoring in American Studies and Theatre, concentrated in Longform Journalism and Acting and focused in Asian American Studies with a double emphasis in Race & Ethnicity and Cultural Politics.

On campus, Ballou is a Senior Admissions Fellow, BOLD Scholar, community service chair for Tavern, co-president of On Tap, nordic ski lesson instructor, member of Middlebury Discount Comedy, and a former Narrative Journalism Fellow.

Outside of Middlebury, she is a reporter for the White River Valley Herald, the weekly newspaper for Central Vermont, where her coverage focuses on sports, arts, local events, personal interest stories, and where to find the best creemees in Vermont. She is also a development and production intern for Broadway Podcast Network, a rapidly expanding digital hub dedicated to theatre and the performing arts industry.
